For the first lecture in the Aavhan Lecture series, we had Reid Mcllroy Young as our guest. Reid is the lead researcher for the Maia Chess Engine from the University of Toronto, which is an AlphaZero/Leela-like deep learning framework that learns from online human games instead of self-play.

Maia tries to predict and replicate the human move played in any position at different skill levels, instead of trying to solve chess as previous engine developers have attempted to do. Technological advancements have indeed started impacting us in a wholesome manner.

As Reid spoke about this breakthrough advancement in the chess world, everyone was left amazed!
